I spent a summer in Brazil during law school when I travelled to Rio de Janeiro for a study-abroad program in international law.  Amazing weather, food, and stories to last a lifetime.  One of my favorite memories happened when I was followed by a group of about ten kids ranging in age from 7 to 15 years while walking along the boardwalk in Copacabana.  In broad daylight, their leader, young boy, threatened to shoot me with his gun while he forcibly reached into my empty pockets - his large gang nearby and ready to end me in case I showed any resistance.  While I survived the attempted mugging, I felt suddenly alive and appreciative of the diversity that Rio had to offer.

Rio de Janeiro is easily the most aesthetically stunning place on earth thanks to its natural and man-made wonders.  Picturesque mountain peaks jutting out of the ocean.  Majestic monuments overlooking the city that will blow your mind.  Explore the rain forests and witness animals you've only seen on TV.  Visit the favelas to see another way of life.  And the night life?  Visit the Lapa District - nothing will prepare you for the outdoor party scene where everyone is in a good mood, drinks flow freely, and you wonder if you'll ever be able to dance samba as good as the locals.

Brasil, lindo maravilhoso!
